Rhaetulus crenatus Weswood, 1871

Rhaetulus crenatus Weswood, 1871 was recorded from Vietnam with two subspecies: Rhaetulus crenatus kawanoi Maes, 1996 from North Vietnam; and Rhaetulus crenatus tsutsuii Fujita, 2009 from South and Center of Vietnam.

Macrodorcas melliana (Kriesche, 1921)

Macrodorcas melliana (Kriesche, 1921) was found from North Vietnam and South China, it is beautiful species with red brownish hair on inner side of mandibles.

Dorcus magdeleinae Lacroix, 1972 were know with 4 subspecies and 2 of them were recorded from Vietnam: Dorcus magdeleinae magdeleinae Lacroix, 1972 was confirmed from Sa Pa, Lao Cai, North Vietnam and Dorcus magdeleinae lieni Maeda, 2012 from South Center of Vietnam. However the number of subspecies still unclear because of a long border with China, some Chinese subspecies maybe can be found also from Vietnam.

Aegus taurus Boileau, 1899

Aegus taurus Boileau, 1899 was known as Aegus beauchenei Boileau, 1902, however recently the A. beauchenei was treated as synonym of A. taurus. The species was found in North Vietnam and South China. Type specimens were collected from Bao Lac and Dong Van, North Vietnam (Tonkin).

Odontolabis siva (Hope & Westwood, 1845) is shinning black species of the genus, there 2 forms of male: large male with long, strange mandibles and small male with short mandibles.
They found in high land mountain of North, Center and South Vietnam.

Dorcus curvidens babai Fujita, 2010 was described as new subspecies based on materials from Da Lat, Lam Dong Province, South Vietnam. The subspecies named after Mr. Masaru Baba, a Japanese beetle collector.

Velutinodorcus velutinus (Thomson, 1862)

Velutinodorcus velutinus (Thomson, 1862) is wide distributed species but it is not so common species. It was found from Hunan, Gansu China to Vietnam, Laos, Thailand, Myanmar and India. In Vietnam, it were recorded from Tam Dao, Vinh Phuc Province, Mau Son, Lang Son Province and recently it was found from Bidoup National Park, Lam Dong Province. The syntype of the species is deposited in Paris Museum of Nature History, France.
The species is very special in color and structure of surface of body, they are small size stag beetles.

Prosopocoilus astacoides karubei Nagai, 2000

Prosopocoilus astacoides karubei Nagai,2000 was described based on materials that collected from Lam Dong Province, South Center of Vietnam. It is the second subspecies of the species found in Vietnam, other wide distribute subspecies is Prosopocoilus astacoides castaneus (Hope & Westwood, 1845), found in North of Vietnam and very common in Ha Giang Province. Not same to the subspecies Prosopocoilus astacoides karubei only found from type locationProsopocoilus astacoides castaneus found also in Thailand, Myanmar, India and Laos, maybe also in South China.
The subspecies Prosopocoilus astacoides karubei Nagai,2000 named after Mr. Haruki Karube, Kanagawa Museum of Nature History, who is well known with his publication on dragonfly of South East Asia.

Lucanus marazziozum Zilioli, 2012

The species Lucanus marazziozum Zilioli, 2012 was described based on materials that collected from Laos (Houa Phan Province, NE of Laos). Latterly, it also was recorded from North of Vietnam, Yen Bai Province. The species is quite close to L. formosus (a species that also found from North Vietnam, Sa Pa, Lao Cai Province) but difference in dorsal teguments glabrous and mandibles.

Lucanus planeti Planet, 1899

A quite common species that found from Thailand, Vietnam and South China (Yunnan, Shichuan, Guangxi); they are very varietal in body size. It close to Lucanus vitalisi and Lucanus laminifer but clearly difference in structure of clypeus.
